Water pipeline bursts in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar West, supply affected | Mumbai News


MUMBAI: A pipeline burst in Asalfa Village in the city disrupted water supply in the region, in the wee hours of Saturday.
The burst led to a heavy leakage in the pipeline of 72 inches diameter leading to a complete cessation of water supply.
Supply from Ghatkopar reservoir was shut in the morning. The damaged pipeline was welded a while ago and is under observation. BMC N ward officials had made tankers available in some regions. Around 50% regions in Ghatkopar West was hit due to the incident.
“Due to change in temperature, some time during winters, old pipelines get damaged,” said an official.
While, several regions in the N ward in Ghatkopar West were affected. However, Ghatkopar East and LBS road were not affected according to BMC officials.
The assistant engineer in the ward office has asked residents to use water sparingly till the supply is restored. Officials said the repairs on the pipeline is done and the supply will be restored in another half an hour.
