Two arrested in Jammu for gang-raping minor | India News

JAMMU: Two men were arrested on Sunday for allegedly abducting and gang-raping a 16-year-old girl in Mendhar tehsil of J&K’s Poonch district last month. The accused were booked under relevant sections of the IPC and the Pocso Act.
“Around 12.30pm on August 15, the girl was returning from school when the accused, who were sitting in a vehicle outside the gate, made her smell some drug, causing her to lose consciousness. They abducted her and took her to a secluded place in Narol forest where they raped her,” said the spokesperson.
“On August 26, a written complaint was received by Mendhar police station against the accused duo following which an FIR was registered and a manhunt launched to trace them,” a police spokesperson said.
A special team led by SI Mohammad Aslam and Mendhar SHO inspector Nayaz Ahmed — under the supervision of Mendhar SDPO Sheezan Bhat and SSP Poonch Rohit Baskotra — gathered evidence, seized the vehicle involved in the crime and arrested the accused, said the spokesperson, adding that further probe was underway.
