The President’s Office said that Zelenskyy addressed the Assembly on Monday, arguing that Russia had no place in the IMO’s governing body.
Background:
- Russia failed to be elected to the Executive Council of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) for the first time in history.
- In addition, Russia failed to be elected to the Executive Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) for the first time.
- Prior to that, a Russian representative was not elected to the International Court of the UN, losing out to Romania’s representative, former Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu.
