“The growth of broadband speed in Moscow comes from the fact that the capital is the focus of major investment flows from operators. It’s the largest market in the country, and competition is forcing operators to constantly improve the quality of communication,” explained Denis Kuskov, CEO of TelecomDaily.

The rest of the Russian Federation is provided with equipment on a residual basis. Operators are attempting to maintain the quality of communication in these regions by expanding the range with 4G frequencies intended for other radio technologies, Kuskov explained.

Mobile internet issues have reportedly begun in Moscow Oblast.

An employee of a partner company of several mobile operators said the decline in internet speed in Russia’s regions results from the fact that the shortage of equipment is compounded by the constant growth of mobile internet traffic.
