The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee is gearing up for the election campaign after the Dasara festival with the second phase of the bus yatra starting on October 28 followed by a public meeting to be addressed by Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi in Kollapur on October 31.

The public meeting named ‘Palamuru Praja Bheri’ will see Ms. Gandhi intensify the party’s campaign taking the six Congress promises made to the people, said TPCC working president Mahesh Kumar Goud at a press conference here on Tuesday. She will go to Kollapur straight from Shamshabad airport and address the meeting at 4 p.m.

This will be the second visit of the Congress leader to Telangana after the announcement of the Assembly poll schedule. Ms. Gandhi along with her brother, Rahul Gandhi, had launched the party’s election campaign in Mulugu district on October 18.

The Kollapur meeting was planned in July itself, and former Minister Jupally Krishna Rao was supposed to join. However, it was put off due to heavy rains during that period. Mr. Rao later joined the Congress in New Delhi in the presence of AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge.

Mr. Goud said the ’six guarantees yatra’ would also be taken up on October 26 and 27 by the AICC incharge Manikrao Thakare; TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy, MPs Komatireddy Venkata Reddy and N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and other senior leaders. They would cover two constituencies every day.

Second list soon

Mr. Goud said that the second list would accommodate all the senior leaders, further adding that he would abide by the decision of the party high command on his seat. He is seeking ticket from the Nizamabad Urban constituency.

The Congress leader was confident that the party would win more than 70 seats as the anti-incumbency was growing strong in Telangana. The pillars of Medigadda barrage caving in showcased the government’s failure in the project design, apart from the huge corruption involved in it, he alleged.
