Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi slammed the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), describing their alliance as one driven by compulsion and referring to it as a `surrendered alliance` in comparison to the INDIA bloc, an amalgamation of 26 parties that she praised for its democratic essence, stated a report in ANI.

According to the ANI report, Chaturvedi expressed her viewpoint, claiming that other parties within the BJP`s coalition feel cramped and controlled when it comes to voicing their thoughts or making decisions in front of PM Modi and Amit Shah, describing this dynamic as a “surrendered alliance.”

Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi went on to say, “Their (BJP`s) partnership is one of compulsion since everyone understands they can only win if they embrace any form of tyranny. They (the BJP) have marginalised the country, democracy, and the constitution. And all of the other parties understand that they will be unable to speak or make any decisions in front of PM Modi and Amit Shah, nor will they be able to state their case, therefore they have surrendered. “This is a surrendered alliance,” she told ANI.

In contrast, Chaturvedi praised the INDIA alliance, which consists of 26 parties, for its commitment to democratic values.

“INDIA alliance is an alliance of 26 parties… They may have differences of opinion, but that is the beauty of democracy. It is a topic of discussion. I hope that a decision will be taken on this as soon as possible and we will all fight this battle strongly for the Constitution of the country and the people of the country and will be victorious in it,” Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi told ANI.

According to the report, as India prepares for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the political environment undergoes significant change. The INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) coalition is preparing to challenge the established National Democratic Alliance. Challenges remain inside the coalition, including finalising seat-sharing arrangements and determining a PM face, while the BJP implements measures stated in 2023 to secure victory in general elections.

The Shiv Sena split in 2022 after Chief Minister Eknath Shinde led a rebellion with 40 legislators. Following the split, the Election Commission gave the party name and `bow and arrow` symbol to Shinde`s faction while Sena (UBT) led by Uddhav Thackeray has a flaming torch as its symbol.
