Mumbai local trains running late as Congress lunches rail roko protest at Dadar

Congress has launched a “rail roko” protest against the Talathi recruitment process in Mumbai, demanding a comprehensive investigation into the matter through a Special Investigation Team (SIT).

As part of their demonstration, Congress activists initiated a “Rail Roko” (train blockade) protest, leading to disruptions in Mumbai local train services at Dadar Railway Station. The Youth Congress members climbed onto platforms, obstructing trains en route to Virar.

Efforts by the police to negotiate with the Youth Congress workers and clear the tracks have proved unsuccessful so far. The protest has resulted in chaos at Dadar Railway Station, prompting the deployment of police and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel to restore order.

The ongoing demonstration has significantly affected the daily commute of Mumbai residents, causing delays of approximately 40 to 50 minutes in the suburban railway schedule.

The situation remains tense as authorities work to address the concerns raised by Congress regarding the Talathi recruitment process.

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Youth Congress posted on social media platform, X that “in opposition to the paper leak and as a mark of protest against the Talathi recruitment, Youth Congress leaders initiated a “Rail Roko” agitation at Dadar Railway Station.” Scores of Youth Congress activists were present during the rail roko protest.
