Inspector attached to Internal Security Division arrested for attempt to murder
An Inspector attached to the Internal Security Division was arrested for alleged attempt to murder and kidnap. The accused Ashok was allegedly providing logistic help to a gang to carry out the act.
According to the police, Ashok had developed proximity with ]gangsters and rowdies while he was working in CCB earlier. He used these links to run his own gang while helping them in all possible ways using his skills. The accused was also allegedly running an extortion racket demanding and receiving money from gangsters and rowdy elements. In one of the leaked audio conversations, a rowdy sheeter identified as Bharani called Ashok to inform him that he got a threat call from gangster Bombay Ravi, threatening him to pay hafta (protection money) to Ashok. Probe also revealed that the accused Ashok was hardly in office in Kolar and stayed home in Bengaluru to continue with his nefarious activities.
In the last three months, many personnel in the rank of police inspectors have been booked for anti-social activities, some facing suspension pending departmental inquiry, some others approaching the KAT and getting their suspension revoked on technical grounds.
