CHANDIGARH: The court officer of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) issued a warrant against Punjab principal secretary (school education) Jaspreet Talwar and ordered Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav to arrest her and ensure her presence before the NCSC chairman, Vijay Sampla, in New Delhi on January 17.
The action was taken after the IAS officer did not attend the January 2 hearing on the appointment of junior and general category principals as education officers and principals in 2010 despite being summoned.
In a communication to the Punjab DGP dated January 6, the court officer of the NCSC stated: “NCSC, while exercising the power of the civil court under Article 338 (8), orders you to arrest and bring her (Jaspreet Talwar) before the commission at 11am on Jan 17.”
The NCSC also asked the DGP to return the warrant on or before January 17 at 11am with an endorsement, certifying the day and the manner in which the order was executed, or the reason why it was not executed.
