CHANDIGARH: Five days after self-proclaimed radical preacher Amritpal Singh and his armed supporters laid siege to Ajnala police station in Punjab’s Amritsar district, the AAP government carried out a police reshuffle on Tuesday that saw police commissioner Jaskaran Singh being replaced with additional DGP (personnel) Naunihal Singh. Jaskaran will now head the intelligence wing as an officer of the rank of IGP.
Arun Pal Singh will be ADGP (modernisation) and Mohnish Chawla the additional ADGP of the state crime records bureau. Some IG-level officers promoted to the rank of ADGP will retain their current posts. Surinderpal Singh Parmar will be the ADGP of Bathinda, the first officer of this rank to head a range.
