Thackeray said, “In the last 1.5 years, many projects in Maharashtra were completed and ready but were not inaugurated. MTHL road which is now the Atal Setu has been completed for 3-4 months but it was not inaugurated because the elections were not near. The same was the case with the Digha line and the new terminal building at the Pune Airport.”
“If these things are not being inaugurated even months after completion, then why are they inaugurating the coastal road project which is not even complete”, Aaditya Thackeray, the MLA from Worli questioned. North-bound connector which is with the MSRDC was the responsibility of the gang leader of this government and has been going on for 7-8 years”, he said aiming at CM Eknath Shinde.
The coastal road should have been completed in December itself, but the work is still on a slow track. BMC commissioner I S Chahal wants to become chief secretary so is giving wrong information about the project,” he alleged.
The coastal road is an ambitious project of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) connecting Bandra Worli Sea Link to Marine Drive. It is considered as a pet project of Thackeray.
PM Modi will inaugurate a partial stretch – from Bindumadhav Thackeray Chowk in Worli to Marine Drive on Sunday, Febuary 19. After the inauguration, the nine-kilometre stretch will be opened to the public on February 20.
