Over two lakh citizens participated in the Udyanavidya exhibition, a flower show organized by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) at Byculla Zoo.
The event, held from February 2 to February 4, 2024, witnessed an overwhelming response from both citizens and tourists, BMC said in a statement.
Under the leadership of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Iqbal Singh Chahal, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Western Suburbs) Ashwini Bhidé, and Assistant Commissioner (Gardens) Kishor Gandhi, the Udyanavidya exhibition showcased a vibrant Flower Festival with the theme `Animal Kingdom.`
Visitors were treated to captivating flower portraits of animals such as elephants, tigers, zebras, and horses, meticulously crafted by the Gardens Department.
The exhibition, held at Bhaykhala`s Veermata Jijabai Bhonsle Botanical Garden and Zoo, featured an array of diverse fruits, colorful flowerpots, and an informative display of trees and plants. Notably, around ten thousand pots were utilized for this purpose, creating a stunning visual experience for attendees.
The highlight of the exhibition was the `Chandrayaan` installation, a moon-themed centerpiece located near the entrance. Adorned with floral arrangements and information about ropes and trees, it added a unique touch to the overall ambiance.
Dignitaries such as Chief Justice Manjusha Deshpande, renowned actors Ranjit, Pawan Malhotra, Ekta Jain, and senior cricket analyst Dilip Vengsarkar graced the event with their presence.
“Visitors were not only treated to the visual spectacle but also had the opportunity to purchase garden-related items, seeds for flowering and fruit-bearing trees, and gain valuable information on planting saplings,” BMC said.
The sale of these items and the informative sessions garnered significant attention from environmentally conscious citizens, emphasizing the success of the Udyānavidyā exhibition, the BMC statement added.
