Mumbai: Hospital staff held for helping scammers fake injuries

The Kandivali police uncovered a gang and arrested four individuals for allegedly tampering with medical reports from Shatabdi Hospital, turning minor injuries into serious cases for financial gains. The accused include Vasu Yeshwant Thombre, 27, Babu Nisaar Sayed alias Babu Langda, 37, Abdul Hameed Khan (purported patient), and Sameer Ishtiyaqe Husain. One hospital security personnel involved in the crime is currently on the run.

“Babu is alleged to be the mastermind behind this scheme. Working as an attendant in a government ambulance at Bhagwati Hospital, collaborated with Thombre, a contracted servant at Shatabdi Hospital. Together, they secured contacts for falsifying the medical report of the patient, Abdul Khan,” said an officer from Kandivali police station.

“Khan, with the assistance of Sameer’s ambulance (parked outside Shatabdi hospital), claimed to have broken his finger after receiving an injection to numb the area. He presented himself for a medical examination at Shatabdi hospital, stating that his finger was fractured due to a severe assault by bouncer Sattyam Pandey and other security guards deployed at Ravi Group’s developer in Ekta Nagar, Kandivali West.”

“During examination, Dr Viraj observed a mark on the finger consistent with an injection site. Threatened with a police report, Khan revealed the entire truth.” “Based on the doctor’s complaint, we have registered the case and apprehended the four individuals. The main conspirator, identified as Shivbahadur Yadav, and a security guard, remains at large,” the officer added.
