Mumbai records coldest day on Tuesday with 14.8 degrees Celsius

Mumbai city witnessed the coldest day of the season on Tuesday, January 23. The temperatures in Mumbai dipped below 15 degree Celsius, marking it the lowest temperature recorded this winder. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD)’s Santacruz observatory recording a minimum temperature of 14.8 degree Celsius, while the Colaba observatory recorded 19.6 degrees Celsius, the IMD Mumbai updates on Tuesday morning.

The IMD senior official K. S Hosalikar posted on X informing on Tuesday Mumbai recorded lowest minimum temperature of the season. The day`s average temperature is been recorded below 30 degrees Celsius.

Mumbai has been experiencing the winter chills this month with minimum temperature dropping below 20 degrees Celsius. The Santacruz observatory on Sunday recorded the second coldest day of the season in Mumbai with lowest temperature dipping to as low as 16.1 degrees Celsius. 

The city is experiencing the chills due to the northern westerly winds, weather experts say. Due to the influx of the northern winds, Mumbai will continue experiencing the pleasant weather in coming days. 

The weather department has also issued Red and Yellow alerts for North and Central India for Monday January 22. The Red and Yellow alerts are given when the regions are expected to experience cold to very cold waves. 

The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a `cold day alert` for January 25 for several north Indian state including Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. 

Indian Meteorological Department`s records show that the minimum temperature till date recorded in Mumbai was in January with 13.2 degrees Celsius. Last year the lowest temperature recorded in January with 13.6 degree Celsius. 

Meanwhile, in Maharashtra on Tuesday, the lowest temperature was recorded in Jalgaon city with 9.6 degrees Celsius, followed by Nashik with 10.1 degrees Celsius. Satara recorded 12 degrees Celsius, while Pune recorded 13.4 degrees Celsius.

The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted that in north Maharashtra the temperature will dip to around 10 degrees Celsius on January 24 and January 25.
